WHERE ARE YOU LORD?
By Nina R. Baker - June 2, 1993

Lord, I have been so defeated by circumstances
Feeling like a trapped animal
No where to flee

Where are You in all this, Lord?
The night is dark, and -
I cannot feel Your Presence

Help me to see and remember
That this present darkness
is Your outstretched hand
That the 'hemming in'
is Your doing
That You are here with me
Regardless
of what I see or feel

Perhaps
there was no other way
You could get my full attention
no other way I would allow You
Access, freedom, sovereignty
To demonstrate what You can,
will and want to....
do in, and through, my life

I am trying to be patient, Lord
I know that Your timing
Is not always my timing....
But Lord, My Lord... How do I....
So mortal and earthbound
Come to terms with the pace of Eternity?

Pain and suffering seem endless

I cry out at their coming
Sometimes
I doubt and wrestle
Sometimes
I crumple and fall
Sometimes
I look down only ....
Too weak to even lift my eyes...

But there, Lord -
In those times and places,
I feel Your presence
There, Lord,
You give me grace
to trust and come to peace
There, Lord
each time, I hear You whisper
Always the same eight words
(Psalms 46:10)
"Be Still and know that I am God"

AMEN
