FIRST THOUGHTS
Eric,
oh, my Eric
I'm falling all apart
Words
Like steel-tipped arrows
Slicing through my heart
Gathered
Strung together
Laying bare your soul
Emotions
Inspire feelings
Embers from hot coal
I
remember....
"Handicapped"
You learned that
word,
When first you started school.
Stark!
Was your encounter!
With peers who were so cruel!
Fears
that traumatize & cause
Loss, Of innocence
Love,
Betrayal, rejection too
Begin to build a fence
Tragedy
Cruelty,
Confusions, even shame
Passion
Anger, Bitterness
Each one has its' own name
Accusations
flung by peers
"Look here, You're not like we are!"
Labeled,
"Non-comformist!"
You came to love - BIZARRE
Oh,
But Eric!......
Unbound
You stood
Alone and Free
"Normal?"
Shunned.....!
In favor of, Individuality
Passionate
Your words remain
Lines of rhythm, rhyme or prose
Many
Only done in part
When death, that door did close
Your
Thoughts, Feelings & Opinions,
Conclusions, all your own
Precious
Words unwritten
Now never to be known
Remaining
they are living yet
But you, my son, are dead
Incomplete,
Like worlds unborn
Those words you never said......
