BY YOUR GRAVE
by
Eric Lee Baker
Breathing
-
shallow, quiet... slowing
your eyes
search for warmth in mine
like the dying embers
of a raging fire
Touching
your skin
white
on the sheets you lay upon
cold - smooth and clutching
Crying
-
cursing death between quivering
lips,
yet praying for my own
Falling
- to my knees...
desolate
alone...
hurting.
my head drops slowly to the
ground
- and I sleep forever
weeping by your grave
